Fastest Object In Space

You wouldn't want to live there, but if you did, you could enjoy a sunset every 10 minutes.

It's an asteroid known as 1998 KY26 and it whizzed by Earth last year.

That's when scientists got a good look at it and were surprised to find out that it's spinning faster than any other object ever spotted in the solar system.

The Spacewatch telescope at the University of Arizona discovered the lumpy sphere.

Writing in Friday's issue of Science magazine, astronomers say it's spinning far faster than other asteroids. They think that means it's probably been involved in lots of collisions with other things in space.
