Everything Is 'Go'

The last album from the pop/rock band Vertical Horizon went double platinum and spawned several hits, including the Number One single and title track "Everything You Want."

Their new album, released this week, is called "Go." Two founding members of the band, Keith Kane and Matt Scannell, dropped by The Saturday Early Show's Second Cup Cafe to perform an acoustic set.

The name Vertical Horizon reflects the music of an acoustic duo, explains Kane. The two founding members first met and performed at Georgetown University. Shortly after graduating, the group recorded their first album, "There and Back Again," at Scannell's old Cape Cod, Massachusetts, high school in 1992. Later, they toured and created their second album, 1995's "Running On Ice."

Their album "Everything You Want" peaked at Number 40 on Billboard's Top 200, but the title track became one of the biggest songs of 2000. It topped Billboard's Hot 100 and was the year's most-played song on Top 40 radio.

After taking a break at the end of 2001, the band returned to the studio and completed its "Go" album with songs such as "Goodbye Again," "It's Over" and "I'm Still Here."

"Go" was supposed to be released a year earlier, but the band's project was temporarily lost in the shuffle during RCA Records' ownership change.

The band says the time off didn't hurt them, and it actually allowed them to tour and play their music for new ears. Scannell and Kane credit the success of their concerts and the new album's first single, "I'm Still Here," to the band's loyal fan base.
