Enumerating Congressional Powers

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) told conservative bloggers on a conference call today that Coburn will be introducing a companion version of the Enumerated Powers Act, RedState reports. The bill is red meat for the GOP's originalist base and would require that, for every Act of Congress, lawmakers specify which enumerated power in the Constitution they are relying on for that particular legislation.

It's deeply unlikely to become law anytime soon, but as RedState notes, it's something for the party's core conservatives to rally around in a difficult time.
