Ducks Sign Right Wing McKenzie

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks got a little tougher Friday after signing rugged right wing Jim McKenzie to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 28-year-old McKenzie was acquired by Anaheim from the Phoenix Coyotes on June 18 for J.F. Jomphe. In 64 games with the Coyotes last season, McKenzie had three goals, four assists and 146 penalty minutes.

"Jim McKenzie is a physical presence on the ice who will provide us with great leadership in the locker room," new Anaheim general manager Pierre Gauthier said. "We are very excited to have him with the Mighty Ducks."

In eight NHL seasons with Hartford, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Winnipeg and Phoenix, McKenzie has 29 goals, 25 assists and 1,153 penalty minutes.
