D'Backs Survive Mets Scare
Gregg Olson got the job done barely.
Olson struck out pinch-hitter Luis Lopez on a full-count pitch with the bases loaded Friday night to end the Arizona Diamondbacks' 2-1 victory over the New York Mets.
Olson threw three straight balls to Lopez, but came back with three straight called strikes to earn his sixth save in 11 chances.
"Olie was great," Arizona manager Buck Showalter said. "It would have been a shame if he didn't come away with a save in that situation because he threw some great pitches."

Mike Piazza led off with the Mets ninth with a single off Olson and moved to second on Robin Ventura's one-out single.
Benny Agbayani then hit a grounder to third baseman Matt Williams that appeared to be an easy double-play ball. Second baseman Jay Bell's relay throw to first was wide, but Piazza, who appeared to jog to third, could not score on the play.
After pinch-hitter Matt Franco walked to load the bases, Olson came back to strike out Lopez.
"I was just looking for a good pitch to hit." Lopez said. "I thought I had a great at-bat, but he threw me a good pitch at the end. Sometimes, you have to give them credit."
Winner Omar Daal allowed four hits in seven innings before leaving with a sore left shoulder.
Daal (5-4), who has beaten the Mets twice this season, and is 4-1 against them in his career, retired 14 of 16 batters before allowing a solo homer to Agbayani in the seventh.
"He was the difference tonight," Showalter said . "His last three outings have been outstanding."
The Diamondbacks scored both their runs in the second off Rick Reed (3-2), who lost for the second time this season to Arizona.
Steve Finley walked with one out and moved to second one out later on Kelly Stinnett's single. Andy Fox, who is 14-for-32 his last 11 games, tripled to make it 2-0.
"You want to be aggressive and try to widen the strike zone a little bit," Fox said. "As the eighth-place hitter, you know you want to try and do something because the pitcher is right behind you."
Reed pitched seven innings for the third straight time, allowing six hits and striking out six.
"That's the best I can do right there," Reed said. "I made one mistake, which was a changeup up in the strike zone. I can't pitch better than that."
Agbayani, who hit his fifth homer, is 21-for-44 since being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on May 11.
