Couple Describes Oprah Shocker

What do you do when one of the most famous women in the country crashes your wedding?

"All I could do was just look at her and ask her what was going on and why was she there," says Bethany Francis.

She and her brand new husband, Morgan Francis, were stunned when the queen of daytime talk, Oprah Winfrey, showed up uninvited, out of the blue at their nuptials on June 3.

Winfrey dropped in on two weddings in Tulsa, Okla. that day, gathering footage for a segment airing on her show in the fall.

"I was mingling with some of my guests and, all of a sudden, big booms and lights were everywhere, and Oprah Winfrey walks down the stairs and says, 'Congratulations!' " Bethany told The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen Tuesday.

"(She said she was) just there to wish us 'Congratulations,' and she asked where Morgan was. He was across the room, and he didn't know what was going on.

"No one really believed someone famous was walking in. They thought someone was playing a prank, but not that Oprah had just walked in to say 'Congratulations' and drop off a nice little gift."

Winfrey came uninvited, but not empty-handed, giving Bethany and Francis "eight lovely dinner plates and mugs, which we've actually used," Bethany says. " It's not part of our china. We had already received all 12 great place settings from our great friends and family, and so it's just another eight plates that complement what we already have really nicely."

"We cooked some steaks a couple of days and we used them for that," Morgan said. "All of our friends and family came over and kind of shared in the occasion with the new plates. It's kind of fun!"

Bethany and Francis just returned to their Enid, Okla. home from their honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Bethany says she's still not sure how Winfrey picked their wedding: "I've heard different rumors. From what I believe she told me, everything is still kind of foggy from the night, I was told that they found us on the Internet. I don't know how. Possibly from Dillard's, because that is where we were registered, or TheKnot.com, I had a Web site there. But really, there's no telling how she found us."Would they like to appear on the show Winfrey is putting together for the fall?

"We would be happy to show up on her show, whenever it airs," Bethany responded. "You know, not really a big deal. We had a great wedding and we'd love to show the whole world what it was like."

Winfrey showed up with her best friend, Gayle King.

But, Bethany says, they were decidedly different from the wedding crashers played in the movie of the same by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

"It wasn't like that at all," Bethany says. "They were just really nice and they weren't trying to hook up with any of our guests."

Bethany admitted her mother was overwhelmed by the surprise guest: "I think my mom almost had a heart attack. She loves Oprah, and she is so embarrassed. She was just going nuts when Oprah walked in, and she said she hadn't had anything to eat, and possibly had a couple of drinks by the time Oprah walked in, and she said, 'I made the biggest fool of myself,' but that's really kind of the reaction everybody had, just utter shock."
