Coburn Omnibus: Round 2

When Congress returns, the fight over a bundle of bills that Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) is blocking from passage will be rejoined. An e-mail from the Democratic Senate message center lists the expected floor action for the month of September. Toward the bottom of the list is the Advancing America’s Priorities Act, parenthetically referred to as "the Coburn bill." It's been variously dubbed the Coburn Omnibus, the Coburnibus and the Tomnibus, but witty Crypt readers are free to call it what they wish.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) attempted to move the package before the recess, but ran up against a wall of GOP opposition.
