CEO Departures Surge

Corporate CEO's are bailing out at a record pace.

So far this year, there have been 1100 changes at the top, nearly double the number for 2004. This is now the biggest CEO turnover year on record, surpassing 2000, during the dot-com and pre-recession shakeup.

In October, 96 CEO's departed, down from the 121 exits announced in September. This marks only the third time this year that the tally of CEO changes fell below 100.

The majority of turnovers this year have come in the health care and computer industries.
