Cedar Rapids and/or Bust
(CBS)
DES MOINES, IOWA -- Barack Obama is on a roll. He has Oprah Winfrey by his side and he has managed to beat tonight's snow storm thanks to reliable transportation.
Relying on much less reliable transportation, the reporters rushing to make it to his Cedar Rapids rally quickly realized that the weather would not cooperate. The 127-mile drive was nearly impossible as snow and sleet covered the highways, so it was back to Des Moines for the traveling press.
But what about Oprah and the Obamas? They flew to Cedar Rapids via private jet and made it to the rally in time. According to the campaign, almost 10,000 people were waiting for them despite the snow.
