Bonds Blasts Way Up HR List

Barry Bonds hit career home run No. 476 in the fourth inning of San Francisco's game against San Diego on Wednesday night, moving into sole possession of 18th place on the all-time list.

For Bonds, who was tied with Stan Musial and Willie Stargell before connecting against Brian Meadows, it was also his 300th home run for the Giants.

The homer, a three-run shot that tied the game at 3, landed in McCovey Cove, the water just outside the right-field fence at Pacific Bell Park.

It was the fifth "splash hit" for Bonds this season, and was only the sixth time a ball has landed into the water on the fly. Dodgers catcher Todd Hundley is the only opponent to reach McCovey Cove.
