BNET UK Wins Best Launch
Apologies in advance, but we're going to do a little crowing:it's barely a year since we launched BNET in the UK, but the new website's already scooped Launch of the Year at the Association of Online Publishers Awards 2009 in London.
CBS Interactive had a good night all round (just don't mention the morning after), with CNET UK winning the Use of Video award for CarTech (and appeared in one of the best photos of the night.)
BNET UK was up against some serious competition -- the WSJ.com in Europe, and launches from the Guardian and News International. But awards judges singled it out for its fresh, timely approach to business. Here's what they had to say:
"An innovative and unique new launch with proven commercial viability, which lifts digital publishing standards to a new level."
The UK award goes into an ever-expanding trophy cabinet at BNET in the US, where the editorial team has already picked up a handful of honours this year. And while BNET UK's editorial team picked up the gong, the win was nothing if not a team effort, with guidance coming from BNET's editorial teams in the US and Australia, as well as from a lot of other helpful people at CBS Interactive.
Our growing band of British bloggers deserves special recognition for delivering fresh, opinionated and original commentary on the issues facing businesses today.
But the biggest thanks goes to BNET UK's readers -- we owe our success to you. Keep giving us your feedback and look out for new content and ways to participate in 2009.
