"Blogging Granny" Logs Off For Final Time
A woman dubbed the "world's oldest Internet blogger" died this week at the age of 97.
Maria Amelia Lopez, a Spanish grandmother who shared her thoughts on international politics, began blogging when she was 95, the BBC reports, after her grandson set her up at her seaside residence in Galicia.
She often discussed her days as an opponent of the Franco regime, and her musings earned her an award as well as a meeting with the Spanish prime minister, the BBC notes.
"When I'm on the Internet, I forget about my illness. The distraction is good for you - being able to communicate with people. It wakes up the brain, and gives you great strength," Lopez, nicknamed the "Blogging Granny," wrote in one of her final posting earlier this year.
