Billy Casper's Son Arrested

The son of star golfer Billy Casper was arrested and is suspected in as many as 30 armed robberies in the San Diego area.

David Casper, who was on parole, and two others were arrested outside the Wild Wild West Gambling Hall and Hotel on Thursday, police said.

Casper, 26, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and stolen vehicles. He is also accused of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and violating his parole in Sacramento, Calif.

Also arrested were Francisco Beruman, 36, and Lisa Llamas, 26, both of Chula Vista, Calif.

Lt. Jim Moses said as officers arrested Beruman getting into one of the stolen vehicles, the other two suspects started walking down the stairs from a second floor room.

Officers wielding shotguns quickly surrounded them, and Casper reached for his gun, Moses said.

"He told us the only reason he didn't (start shooting) was he didn't want the girl (Llamas) to die," said Moses. "His attitude was of a hardened criminal that would have shot it out with law enforcement if he had the opportunity."

Moses said Casper told police if it weren't for Llamas he would not have allowed them to take him alive.

Las Vegas police began searching for Casper and an unknown female accomplice Monday after receiving a tip from the San Diego Police Department.

Beruman is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and robbery of a Checker Auto Parts store in North Las Vegas.

Llamas is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.

The group is also suspected of stealing $3,000 from a downtown Las Vegas bar.
