Big Thinkers

The 20th century has been an era of unparalleled scientific progress. From the development of Freudian psychology to the invention of the computer, these discoveries and formulations have utterly altered our lives. In "Great Minds, Great Discoveries," the latest segment of People Of The Century, Time magazine and CBS News focus on the most influential scientists and thinkers of the century.

People of the Century: "Great Minds, Great Discoveries," airs March 25 at 10 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. (Check local listings.)

For more on Berners-Lee and others, see the CBS People Of The Century Web site.
On the list are such well-known names as Albert Einstein and the Wright Brothers. Also here are less celebrated people, such as philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein and environmentalist Rachel Carson, whose contributions to science and thought are nonetheless enormous.
