A's Macfarlane Off DL
The Oakland Athletics activated catcher Mike Macfarlane from the 15-day disabled list Monday.
To make room on their roster, the A's optioned catcher A.J. Hinch to Triple-A Vancouver.
Macfarlane sprained his thumbs after a collision at home plate with Steve Decker of Anaheim on June 26. He is batting .267 with one home run and 17 RBIs.
Macfarlane re-signed with Oakland this year to help develop Hinch, who is batting .203 and has thrown out seven baserunners in 39 attempts in his second year with the A's.
