The United Nations World Food Program is focusing its relief on Central America where drought and malnutrition have left tens of thousands in danger of starvation.

Earlier this year, the U.N. declared an emergency in Guatemala, saying that 60,000 children were suffering from chronic malnutrition, and that 6,000 children under five could die unless and emergency feeding program is put in place.

Last month, U.N. relief workers were in Guatemala to assess the situation. Among them, Abby Spring, who urged Americans to overcome "charity overload" and help the U.N. to get food to those in need in Guatemala.
