Why I'm Worried About Whitney

Sure, it's a little awkward looking, but so is Justin Bieber, and he's turned out to be popular enough.  Your very own jet pack!  It's about time! Or, it's almost about time: apparently this thing'll be ready for sale next year. How much, you ask? A nice $100,000.

Personally, I've been waiting since James Bond strapped one on, in Thunderball (1965).

Now, after decades of promises, personal flight may be here for real. So says Yahoo! News. Inventor  Glenn Martin has built and tested the Martin JetPack, and -- here's the important part --  received clearance from the FDA! Fliers won't be allowed to go more than 63 MPH, or be in the air more than half an hour. But 30 minutes could mean 32 miles, and 'as the crow flies,' that'll get you just about anywhere in the L.A. Basin, to anywhere else.

I do worry that traffic expert Whitney Drolen would need to add 3-D maps to her morning reports, and that Sky2 pilot Mike Case would have to put the collision-avoidance radar into overdrive ("Incoming! 12 o'clock high!"), but hey! -- If it means my house to the beach in 15 minutes, then a cool landing like 007, and Justin Bieber will got nothin' on me. (Worst. Grammar. Ever. -Ed.)
