Power Slowly Returns To Dearborn After Early Morning Outages

DEARBORN (WWJ) - The lights are slowly coming back on for residents in Dearborn, after an early morning power outage Friday left thousands in the dark.

DTE Energy said around 6:30 a.m., only about 400 customers remain without power, mainly in the area of West Warren and Greenfield.

WWJ's Mike Campbell said about 2,6000 customers initially lost power when wires came down after a transformer blew in the parking lot of Papaya Fruit Market.

DTE officials remind residents to never touch a downed power line, or anything it is in contact with - even if there are no sparks. If you happen to see downed power lines, contact DTE Energy immediately at 800-477-4747

DTE is constantly updating a power outage map to show residents where to expect the worst. Click here to check the map.
