More Police On Patrol To Find Drunk Drivers

It was the big kick off  for metro Detroit's annual holiday drunk driving crackdown.  Detroit Deputy Police Chief James Tolbert says drunk driving is dangerous.

"Last year there were nearly 300 people killed and more than 3000 were injured on Michigan roadways" in alcohol related incidents. "Sixty of those deaths and more than 400 injuries took place in Wayne County." Tolbert told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

MADD's Michigan Executive Director Jeannette Colladge told WWJ  there will be extra patrols on the roads to catch drunk drivers through January 2.  "People think it's not serious (drinking and driving) until it happens to them."
