Matt's Favorites: CES' Wacker Gadgets, And A Call To Mars

So what else is new and cool? Oh, lots and lots, leading with the peak of CES...

* Once again, here's the International CES roundup from the tech news experts at CNet's News.com, now a CBS property, by the way.

* Samsung offers a wow keynote at CES with a flexible (!) display and a talk with former President Bill Clinton.

* This is always one of my favorite parts of CES -- finding the stuff that's a little off the beaten trail.

* Including this wacky gadget, the smart potty.

* Here's a talk with Ro Marley, son of the late reggae star Bob Marley, whose family House of Marley audio gear line is managed out of Homedics in Commerce Township.

* And here's a look at the future of 3D TV.

* And how about a paper thin tablet computer?

* And maybe all this super-def TV is a little bit TOO detailed? Especially when it comes to the human form.

* Cisco's CEO wins the Financial Times' annual anti-prize for best corporate purveyor of BS.

* Yikes. Another incident for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.

* And the FCC is also pushing for faster Wi-Fi at airports, convention centers and other major hubs where connectivity can often slow to a maddening crawl.

* A private delegation including Google's Eric Schmidt is urging North Korea to allow more Internet access. Yeah, good luck with that.

* In space, another call for Mars colonists. Like most trips to the New World in the 1600s, it'll be a one-way trip.
