Fire Destroys 5 Boats At Southeast Michigan Marina
SOUTH ROCKWOOD (AP) - A chain-reaction fire has destroyed five boats at a marina in southeast Michigan.
The first boat caught fire at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and quickly spread to the other boats parked nearby on land at the Lake Pointe Marina in South Rockwood, The Monroe News reported. It took five fire departments about half an hour to get the fires under control.
Officials believe the fire was caused by someone burning wood or trash near the boats in a pit enclosed by concrete barriers.
Rockwood Fire Chief Dan Mercure says Berlin Township is investigating the fire.
