Cops Trained In 'Kill-osophy:' There's Always A Way To Legally Justify Use Of Fatal Force

DETROIT (WWJ) - While thousands of people gathered peacefully at protests and vigils across the country -- one turned violent and deadly for police in Dallas.

How does the level of civil unrest spill over into communities and a level of distrust seep into neighborhoods?

A local expert who trains police officers and civilians on how to manage threats is reacting to the recent shootings.

Commander Dale Brown is the Director of the Detroit Threat Management Center says the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling could have been avoided, and he says it starts with the training philosophy.

"In both these cases - what you are looking at is law enforcement officers - who have been trained in what we call the 'kill-osophy'' the belief that there is always a reason and a way to legally justify the use of fatal force which can result in the killing of people," said Brown.

Meantime, President Obama Thursday says all Americans should be troubled by frequent police shootings of blacks and Hispanics, insisting that the recent fatal incidents in Minnesota and Louisiana are not isolated.
