Mayor issues an emergency declaration amid continued migrant arrival

Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued an emergency declaration on Tuesday in response to the significant number of people arriving in Chicago who are seeking asylum in the U.S. since last year, what her office called a "national humanitarian crisis."
