2011's Week #3 Winner: Dave J's Stuffed Jalapenos
Congratulations to Dave Jackowski from Portage, Indiana for sharing his recipe for Stuffed Jalepenos! Make sure you have some frosty beverages on hand because it sounds like these tailgate show-stoppers are hot, hot, hot!
Ingredients:
-25 Jalapenos
-2 lbs very good Italian sausage
-Big bag Kraft shredded mozzarella with Philadelphia cream cheese in it
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Cut stems off jalapenos, then cut pepper in half, deseeding each pepper half (use gloves when cutting the peppers). Put cut peppers on baking pan. If sausage is in casing, take it out and put in big bowl, breaking meat apart. Add approximately 12 oz. of mozzarella to the meat.....mix well. Stuff each pepper half with the meat/cheese mixture and put on baking pan. Put in oven for 30 to 35 minutes.....or until meat is cooked. When meat is done take out and sprinkle more of the mozzarella on top of the peppers. Put in oven again just till melted.
*If you prefer the peppers spicier, you can take the seeds and put in the meat mixture and you can get a hot pepper melting cheese and top them off with that instead of the mozzarella at the end.
