Three teens shot inside CTA Red Line station
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three teenagers are injured following a shooting near 95th/Dan Ryan CTA Red Line stop Sunday afternoon.
Police say around 2:45 p.m., a 19-year-old man was involved in a fight with an unknown person on the sidewalk. The teen then fled into the vestibule area of the train station and was followed by the unknown attacker, who got out a gun and started shooting.
The 19-year-old was shot in the right hand and right leg and was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who were also in the vestibule were shot as well. the 18-year-old was shot in the left arm and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. The 16-year-old was struck in the right shoulder, the right arm and the lower back and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
A 44-year-old woman was also injured due to a fall during the commotion. She was transported to Trinity Hospital.
Red Line service was suspended between 95th and 87th but is running again with minor delays, according to the CTA.
CBS 2 has reported extensively on crime on the CTA, including a portion of the Red Line that is the most violent part of the whole system.
