Suspect Charged In Fatal Chinatown Stabbing

(STMW) -- A man has been charged with killing one man and wounding two more in a Chinatown neighborhood stabbing Monday night on the South Side.

Raul Gonzalez, 37, faces felony counts of murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for the 7:30 p.m. attack near his home in the 200 block of West 23rd Street, Chicago Police announced Tuesday night.

Officers responding to a call of a person down in the the 200 block of West 23rd Street found a 50-year-old man who had been stabbed repeatedly in the back, and a 23-year-old man stabbed in the groin nearby, police said.

The older man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died, authorities said. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not released his name.

The younger was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where Gonzalez later showed up with stab wounds along with a 44-year-old man who had been cut in the face and head, police said.

Gonzalez was treated and arrested at the hospital about 4 a.m. Tuesday, police said. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.
