Baltimore's Winter Restaurant Week Extended

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- If you love to eat and you're looking for a bargain there's some good news, and it's all because of the bad weather we've been having.

Ron Matz reports Baltimore's Winter Restaurant Week is going into overtime.

The most delicious week of the year just got better. Because of the snow, lots of places are taking Restaurant Week into overtime. Caesar's Den is extending the promotion through Feb. 6.

"Hopefully, we'll get more people to come into the city, especially since we had this weather situation during this past week," said Tina DeFranco, Caesar's Den.

It's a three-course meal for just $35.11. The Downtown Partnership says nearly half of the 100 participating restaurants are extending their deals.

"We had over 100 restaurants participating and we have more than 40 that are choosing to extend their promotion this year due to the weather and popular demand. People across the region have really grown to embrace Restaurant Week," said Aubrey Westgate, Downtown Partnership. "You can look at Baltimorerestaurantweek.com. On that site we place an 'E' next to restaurants that are extending. Make sure you call each restaurant to determine how long they are extending. Some are extending a week, two weeks or three weeks in some cases."

At Sabatino's, folks have another week to enjoy a bookmaker salad and more.

"The Restaurant Week menu features all of our most prominent items: the bookmaker salad, veal francaise, baked rigatoni, everything that everyone loves is on our Restaurant Week menu. We are going to extend Restaurant Week through next Friday, Feb. 4. Whenever you have an event scheduled in the winter you always have the possibility of inclement weather. People that want to come out and celebrate Restaurant Week don't get the opportunity," said Lisa Morekas, Sabatino's. "When the Convention and Visitors Association asked us to extend, we did so happily. We're always happy to give their customers what they want at Sabatino's."

In the dog days of winter, it's an opportunity for a great meal and a warm welcome to the city.

"We're also hoping to get more people to come in because Baltimore County had their Restaurant Week simultaneously. So I think people had a tough decision to make, whether to stay in the county or come into the city, so hopefully this will bring everybody down to Baltimore," said DeFranco.
