Unexpected Snow-Cation Not So Relaxing For Parents

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Many schools are closed again on Thursday.

Marcus Washington with how many parents are dealing with the extended, unexpected vacation.

Schools were forced to close doors for a fourth day because of the potentially dangerous conditions on the roads.

"When I woke up this morning knowing that I was not going to be in school and that I was going to come here and sled, I just hopped out of my bed, got my snow gear ready and said, 'Mom, we're leaving,'" said 11-year-old Doc Roulette.

A fun day for kids, but not so relaxing for parents.

"I'm a working mom, so a lot of time off work, a lot of laundry, lots of food, lots of snacks. We were prepared though," said parent Lisa Roulette.

"We were snowed in until late yesterday afternoon," said parent Luke Tennis.

And here's where the problem lies--parking lots at schools or even the roads surrounding those schools--there is still a potential danger on the roads.

School bus parking lots are packed as buses sit with nowhere to go, forcing parents to fill their kids' day with something to do as schools are scheduled to remain closed all week.

"It's just exhausting. I mean, there's no other way to put it. They're excited. They're up earlier and staying up later, so they're tired. It's just so much to do constantly during the day," Lisa Roulette said.

"Oh, as soon as possible, because they love school. And so do I," Luke Tennis said.
