Regent Who Resigned Had Medical License Suspended
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A member of the Maryland Board of Regents who resigned last month had his license to practice medicine suspended about a week before he resigned.
Dr. John Young's license was suspended by the Maryland State Board of Physicians on Feb. 13. He was suspended for administering a drug to treat autistic children without examining and monitoring them adequately. The board suspended the license of Young's medical partner in 2011.
The Board of Regents said his resignation was effective Feb. 21. The Board of Regents said Young cited the need to devote more time to other activities.
Young began his term on the Board of Regents in July 2009.
The Board of Regents is the governing body of the University System of Maryland.
