Masters Recap With Rex Hoggard

Rex Hoggard of the Golf Channel joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to recap Jordan Spieth's Masters win, and to take a look at the future of golf.  Scott came right out of the gate and asked Rex for his thoughts on a historic outing by Jordan Spieth. "It's amazing to think what a kid at 21 years old is really able to do, it was really Tigeresque. He hit 36 and 54 and 72 holes with the lowest score and holds the scoring records and he never backed out. It was a masterpiece."

Jordan Spieth burst on to the golf scene this year and is now ranked first in the 2015 FedEx Cup standings, Rex gave some background info on the young Masters winner. "You want to say he burst on the scene when he won the second of his two US Junior titles. He went to the University of Texas as a freshman they win the NCAA Championship. He played phenomenal golf just in the few starts that he had which includes the Byron Nelson Championship which is a hometown event for him  in Dallas. I think everyone expected big things from him."

Tiger and Phil are on the back nine of their careers, Jeremy asked Rex who could be the next group of superstars to step up once Tiger and Lefty have retired. "You would put Jordan (Spieth) in that group and there is a lot of young players that you don't know right now but are more than likely going to get to know over the next few years. Justin Thomas is a good friend of Jordan's who is cut from a very similar mold. He may not have a text book swing but there's just an innate abilitly to play the game. There is an innate desire to be competitive, that's what you see in Jordan and I think Justin is right there with him."
