BALTIMORE -- A man who was allegedly attacked and forced into a vehicle Wednesday evening in Lochearn has been found, Baltimore County Police said Friday.

Joel Edwards, 62, was found "alive and well," police said. It was not immediately clear how he was found.

Edwards was "attacked by an unknown suspect" around 8:40 p.m. on the 3500 block of Forest Hill Road before he was forced into a vehicle, police said.

Neighbors who did not want to be identified said they saw a white van parked nearby in the moments leading up to the incident.

"Why would they want to kidnap him or abduct him? What for? I mean, I don't understand it," one neighbor said. "I really don't."

Baltimore County Police spokesman Trae Corbin told WJZ on Thursday that the vehicle had been found while Edwards was still considered missing.

Corbin did not say where the van was found on Thursday or whether it had been reported stolen ahead of the abduction.

"Unfortunately, the information we have right now is limited and our detectives are currently trying to figure out the circumstances that surround this case," he said.

Neighbors were still reeling from the incident on Thursday afternoon.

"Oh, I was shocked. I'll tell you," the same neighbor said. "This is a quiet neighborhood."
