Fay Vincent Talks About Pete Rose And The Future Of Pitchers Hitting In The MLB
Fay Vincent is the former MLB Commissioner who served that office from 1989-1992.
Fay joined Ed and Steve to talk about Pete Rose in the hall, shortened seasons, and the future of pitchers hitting in the MLB.
Fay started off by talking about Pete Rose being banned from the Hall Of Fame and if new commissioner Rob Manfred will let him in saying "I don't think he will, the Pete Rose case is not about Pete Rose it's about the deterrent...if you want to keep gambling out of baseball the deterrent works." As for the possibility of a shortened MLB season Fay said "well it would be a great idea but I think the chances are pretty slim because it's a big payday...when I was commissioner it came up and the owners always said you're taking money out of our pockets." As for pitchers hitting in the National League vs the DH in the American League Fay said "I'm a National League supporter because its the original game, I love that Bartolo Colon hits a double...over time I think it's very likely that the National League game will disappear which is unfortunate."
