Can driverless cars make human-like decisions?

Two and a half years ago, Carnegie Mellon University passed a milestone in its driverless car research by taking a car on a 33-mile trip without the assistance of a driver. As smooth as that journey turned out, there were plenty of obstacles left to overcome – chief among them, programing common sense and morality to ensure the absolute safety of every passenger. Now, nearly every auto manufacturer has joined the race to get you out of the driver’s seat. Peter Greenberg reports.
