9/18: Home Depot breach puts 56 million cards at risk; Donations pour in after dog hit in LA car chase
Home Depot says hackers used "unique, custom built malware" never used in other attacks in the security breach that went undetected between April and September. Home Depot now estimates information is "at risk" for 56 million unique payment cards; and, when a car fleeing police hit Gordo, a one-year-old poodle mix, it struck a nerve in a city that otherwise might have just changed the channel. Donations to cover his care are pouring into the animal hospital where the dog is recovering.
