Woman killed in San Jose car crash

SAN JOSE (CBS SF/BCN) – A woman died after being involved in a car crash in San Jose on Tuesday morning, police said.

The crash was reported at 6:16 a.m. in the area of Pomona and Alma avenues.A 2019 Ford truck, driven by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on Plum Avenue approaching the intersection with Alma Avenue; the truck entered the intersection and collided with a 1995 Honda sedan. The Honda was driven by an adult female. 

The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There was no indication of drug or alcohol influence on either driver. Traffic investigators will provide a determination regarding right of way at the intersection at a later date.

A road closure remained in place as of shortly after 7:15 a.m. as a result of the crash, according to San Jose police.

The fatal collision is the 61st on San Jose city streets in 2022 and the 63rd traffic related death, police said.
