'Speed Freak Killer' Writes 3rd Letter, Claims Another Burial Site

SACRAMENTO (CBS) – Convicted killer Wesley Shermantine has sent a third letter to the CBS station in Sacramento, just days after sending a second letter to the station from death row.

Once again, the letter was addressed to CBS13 reporter Koula Gianulias. It appears he wrote the third letter believing his second letter may not have arrived.

However, it is not a duplicate. Once again, Shermantine gave tidbits of information about where bodies may be buried.

Wesley Shermantine Letter #3 (some information has been redacted)

Shermantine, one of the so-called "Speed Freak Killers," is currently on death row in San Quentin for killing four people in a spree that lasted from 1984 to 1999. However, officials believe he and his partner Loren Herzog are responsible for many more deaths.

As in his first two letters, Shermantine is very critical of local bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, who had promised to Shermantine $33,000 for information on the victims. In the third letter he said, "I really want to believe in Leonard, but I have these doubts he'll come through, which is a shame because I've been holding the best for last."
