Murdered Woman's 2-Year-Old Daughter Remains Missing

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Twenty-five days and not a single lead. Police say it's almost like little Arianna Fitts vanished into thin air.

San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said, "We are trying to talk to anyone who had any contact with the toddler. It's just a mysterious case."

And it's a heartbreaking case as well, because somewhere out there this 2-year-old girl could be in danger.

Investigators think she's still alive, even though her mother, Nicole Fitts, 32, was found murdered earlier this month in San Francisco's McLaren Park and the toddler hasn't been seen since.

"There is an extreme sense of urgency in finding where she's at. We are maintaining hope," Esparza said.

Police and the FBI say she has links to the Fresno and Orange County areas, but so far nothing has surfaced. New evidence hasn't even unearthed an answer.

Former FBI agent and KPIX 5 security expert Jeff Harp says it's possible there may be some movement forward, but we won't know about it until the dust has settled.

Harp said, "They are going to keep all those things very closely held to the vest because there may be people they don't want to flee so they can conduct their logical investigation."
