Good Question: Are There Any 16 RPM Records Around Anymore?

(CBS 5) -- If you know anything about records, you know about 45's and 33's. But there's another number that is rare. In this Good Question: Are there any 16 RPM records around anymore? What were they used for?

ANSWER: Most 16rpm records have been phased out in all but industrial applications. They were frequently used to record books for the blind during the 1950s and 60s because of their very slow rotation. More information could be stored on each disc. They were not usually used for music due to their poor fidelity.
