SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - San Francisco Giants General Manager Brian Sabean is calling for a rule change to prevent home plate collisions in the aftermath of the season-ending injury to Giants catcher Buster Posey.
Sabean also ripped Marlins player Scott Cousins, who slammed into Posey in the play at home last week, saying he'd be happy if Cousins is through as a Major Leaguer.
"Sometimes if you really want to get something changed... maybe you have to say something and you have to say something strongly," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "I don't know that he had to get personal... If you just want to knock some person individually, I don't think he should be able to do that."
Also Thursday, The Dallas Mavericks tied the NBA Finals series at one game apice, roaring back from a big deficit late in the game to shock the Miami Heat.
"15 points, seven minutes, you can't do that, what the heck, 'this one's over,'" Madden said he was thinking as he watched the game. "That was great basketball at the end. That was great theater."
Madden also disclosed that he was wrong in his estimate of the weight of the centerpiece roast pig for the KCBS-Madden barbecue earlier this week.
"That pig weighed 430 pounds, not 340... We were only a hundred pounds off. What's a hundred pounds between friends?" (8:45)
