Bay Area Dentists Heal San Francisco Zoo Gorilla's Tooth
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Two Bay Area dentists came to the rescue of a gorilla with a toothache on Monday, San Francisco Zoo officials said.
Oscar Jonsey, or O.J., a 30-year-old western lowland gorilla had an abscessed canine tooth, zoo officials said.
Dentist Dan Mairani and endodontist Steve Holifield normally work with human patients but they made an exception for O.J. After a three-hour procedure, the tooth was saved and the abscess successfully treated, zoo officials said.
