Memorial Set For CHP Officer Shot During Stop
VACAVILLE (AP) — Police officers from across the state and the nation are expected to pay their respects Thursday to the California Highway Patrol officer who was gunned down during a traffic stop on a San Francisco Bay Area freeway.
CHP officials say the public is also welcome to attend a memorial for Kenyon Youngstrom set for 10 a.m. at the Mission Church in Vacaville, but caution that seating inside the church is limited.
The 37-year-old Youngstrom was shot during a Sept. 4. traffic stop on Interstate 680 in Alamo.
He died in a hospital the next day after being taken off life support. He is survived by his wife and four children.
The man police say shot Youngstrom, 36-year-old Christopher Boone Lacy, was shot and killed by another CHP officer.
