Dozens of parents peppered Ross with safety questions and calls for an image overhaul and new security campaign at the school.

Video surfaced online of Ross being flipped by a student and slammed the ground while trying to break up a fight in the cafeteria.

"I'm doing alright. I'm sore. You know, my back is sore; my ribs are sore," he said. "But you know, I'm energized, because when I came back, the students were great."

The incident captured national headlines, prompting the Elk Grove School District to increase the law enforcement presence on campus, relaunch its anti-bullying campaign and revamp its parent notification system.

"Anything is possible, anything can happen, but just having that increased security will ease our minds," said parent Lai Sachel.

School spirit is on the mend as the community takes its first step toward healing.

"Embrace Panther pride and be Florin strong," Ross said. "We will create the image the world needs to see."

Three students were arrested in the case.
