Call Kurtis: Where's My Present From Two Birthdays Ago?

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A Sacramento basketball fan is still waiting for his birthday present from more than a year ago.  When he says NBA star Derek Fisher's website didn't deliver, it was time to call Kurtis Ming.

Ray Valdovino is a big fan of Fisher, a guard on the Los Angeles Lakers.

"He's a hard worker," Valdovino says, "Just a good guy."

Two birthdays have come and gone since his wife and daughter ordered an autographed copy of Fisher's book "Character Driven: Life, Lessons, and Basketball" from Fisher's website in December of 2009.  It's now been 13 months, and Valdovino says the clock's run out.

"A month turned into two months, three months, four months, eight months, a year," says Valdovino

Over the past 13 months Valdovino has emailed the address on the receipt, Fisher's fan club, even the Lakers, before reaching Fisher's personal publicist, Jamie Wior by email.

Valdovino showed us the nine month long string of messages, "Just wondering if you were able to send out my book," he recites.

He says Wior has promised several times to send it.  "I was literally just writing you.

We're sending it today," Valdovino reads from one of her emails.

So Valdovino kept checking his mail box, but he says the book never arrived.

"I'm not the person that likes to cause problems.  I just figured if somebody says they got it in the mail, I take a person by their word," Valdovino Says.

We got in touch with the Lakers and were referred to Wior.  She told us she did send the book; twice.

"I can understand maybe losing one book, but losing two, not receiving two, that's difficult to take," Says Valdovino.

Wior says the books were sent without tracking numbers, so there is no proof it got there.  After our call, she agreed to overnight a new signed book to Valdovino.

The new book has the wrong inscription.  It reads, "To Ray, thanks for your support.  Derek Fisher #2."  Valdovino ordered the book with the inscription, "To Ray, happy birthday. Derek Fisher #2."

Despite his 13 month adventure, Valdovino says he'll always be a fan.

"I think he's a good guy.  I think if he'd have known about it, that I'd gone through all this trouble, I think he would have taken care of it a long time ago," Says Valdovino.

The Lakers admitted to us there were distribution problems early on with Fisher's book, but they say his publicist, Wior was "diligent" in solving the problems.
