Who Wants To Be A Superhero?

OK, so my TiVo went out last night because of the storm so I only got some parts of "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" Darn cable. Good thing it's on reruns a lot on the Sci-Fi channel.

Famous comic book creator Stan Lee (even I know who he is and I don't read a comic book ever) has created a show called "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" And it's a great concept. People have to create their own costume and superhero that they want to be. We have a variety of Superheroes on the show. Right now there is:

  • Monkey Woman
  • Fat Momma
  • Lemuria
  • Creature
  • Major Victory
  • Feedback

They look exactly as their names sound. Fat Momma feasts on doughnuts, Creature has dreadlocks, Monkey Woman has bananas hanging from her belt loops — it's great! Major Victory is my favorite even though he is just a goofy over-the-top superhero.

Until last week they were wearing costumes they had designed. As a reward for completing their tasks last week, Stan Lee gave them new costumes and they were kick-ass — right out of one of his comics. If anything, they can at least have a killer Halloween costume this year if they don't win.

Oh, and did I mention the winner's superhero will be in a comic? So cool, in my opinion.

Each week they are given superhero tasks such as changing into their costumes in public, saving a little girl, and helping an old woman in need while getting attacked by dogs. Stan Lee picks the three weakest links each week and sends one of them home.

Last week the Iron Enforcer went home. He was a scary dude. If I saw him coming to save me, I would run the other way.

The other superheroes were not exactly friendly to him, telling him he stunk and accusing him of doing steroids. Stan Lee just said he couldn't figure it out, but he wasn't right for the job.

In a twist, Stan stopped him on the way out and told him he couldn't be a superhero but he could be a darn good villain. I agree. He is now the dark enforcer! So he was back in last night's episode and future ones to wreak havoc among the superheroes.

Hey, in order to be a superhero you have to have a villain, right?

Last night's episode consisted of the superheroes going out and trying to make their neighborhood a better place, and also fessing up to the skeletons in their closet — uh oh!

Monkey Woman couldn't hang (Ha! I couldn't help myself) and had to go home. I really liked her. I thought she was a good character and had a lot of heart.

If you haven't checked out this show, you should. It's fun and lighthearted and you will end up loving it!
