John Dickerson, CBS News' political director and anchor of "Face the Nation" spoke with Scott Pelley to discuss Thursday night's GOP debate in Cleveland.
Dickerson touches on why Donald Trump was the GOP frontrunner going into the debate, who stands out now and what the debate on Thursday meant for Hillary Clinton.
"Its been tricky measuring the weather patterns in the summer of Trump," said Dickerson. "We'll have to wait for the polls and see if combative performance hurts him among Republicans."
For Hillary Clinton, he said she probably hopes the GOP candidates spend their time beating up on each other instead of her.
"There were some attacks on her, but not as many as you might have expected," Dickerson said.
