Video: Electric car drives 161-mph on ice
(CBS) - Who says electric cars can't perform? A group of Finnish students took an electric supercar prototype - the E-RA, or Electric RaceAbout - out for a spin recently and tore up a frozen lake. The electric car hit peak speeds of 161-mph. Check out the video above.
This promotional video comes from Finland's Nokian Tyres. They want us to be impressed by the treads, but it's the blistering electric speed that really draws the eye. The students are from the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, which helped design the E-RA.
The electric prototype averaged 252 km/h (156.6-mph) and hit a peak speed of 260-km/h (161.6-mph.)
