Valentine's Day Beauty Picks

Valentine's Day is a week away. But, it's not too late to get yourself looking great for your romantic night out.

Laurel Naverson, senior beauty editor at Glamour magazine, stopped by The Saturday Early Show with the publication's beauty picks and suggestions that will have you looking great -- just in time for Valentine's Day.

Naverson showed us the following beauty picks:

  • Zit Zapper:
    Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, $17

Zits always seem to happen right on a big day - whether it's a new job or a hot date, you get that one ugly pimple! This product is a classic, and still very popular, even with stars. Don't shake it up - you'll be tempted, since the solution is separated - but it's supposed to be that way. The yellow oil on top are the acids that help reduce the pimple and dry it out. The pink part underneath is the soothing part - calamine lotion to calm your skin. Use a cotton swab and follow the instructions. Naverson says this product is gentle and great for every kind of skin.

  • Lip Stains:
Lip stains are the newest way to get your lips kissable. They stay on without drying out your lips. Naverson says they add just a little bit of color without the mess of lip gloss. Plus, she says they stay on all night, without leaving a big, nasty splotch on your wine glass during dinner.

Glamour magazine tested a few lip stains. Naverson's two favorite lip stains are from Urban Decay and Hard Candy.

    Hard Candy, $14
Naverson says this lip stain comes in a cute package that is double-ended. One side has the stain, the other side has a gloss that goes on top. You can wear one or layer them on. The stain also works really well on cheeks as a blush.

Urban Decay's Ink Lip Stain, $17
This lip stain, available at Sephora, is applied like a magic marker pen, then you just add balm on top. Naverson says your lips will keep their color after drinking wine, eating dinner, having a messy dessert or smooching.

Naverson adds that the stains come in colors that work for almost anybody, regardless of ethnicity. She loves the natural colors of "Illegal" and "Naked."

  • In-Shower Lotion:
Many of us have dry skin this time of year from the harsh winter winds and the hot dry air in our homes and offices. A brand new product from Oil of Olay may help.

Olay Moisturinse, $5 for a big bottle

Olay Moisturinse in-shower body lotion is an "in-shower" lotion. The company claims that they have developed a special kind of moisturizing ingredient that locks in moisture and works even when you're wet. It comes in super moisturizing or regular moisturizing formulas, depending on your skin type. But remember, Olay Moisturinse does not clean your body. It is meant to be used right before you towel off.

  • Hand Cream:

Hands can also become dry during the winter. Naverson says if you plan to hold hands with your special someone, get them in shape ASAP. Hand creams are different from regular body lotions. Hand lotions are a little stronger than average moisturizer because the hands have fewer oil glands.

Nivea Restorative Night Hand Cream, $5
Naverson says this hand cream really sinks in and puts that softness back into your skin without feeling greasy.

  • Shampoo and Conditioner:
Just like skin, hair tends to get super dry in winter. It also suffers the static effect from wool hats. Naverson says the easiest, simplest thing to solve the problem is to upgrade to a more moisturizing conditioner and shampoo. Here is her pick:

Botanical Nutrients Wheat Bran Patchouli Shampoo and Conditioner, $18 each for a big bottle, at Bath & Body Works
Naverson says they're concentrated so they really sink into each hair strand to moisturize it from the inside out, which is especially crucial in winter. She says they don't just stick to your hair and weigh it down and adds that almost any hair type can use the shampoo/conditioner, even though they're moisturizing.

  • Styling Product:
This season, it's all about curly, beautiful, romantic hair -- no more flat iron.

Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious Crème, $25
Naverson says everybody can use the Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious Crème. Even if you have stick-straight hair and want it to stay that way, this will give you nice softness and a little body. Either way, hair will stay soft, but look sexier and fuller than usual. Plus, she says it helps reduce frizz.

  • Face Moisturizer:
Estee Lauder Hydra Complete Multi-Level Moisture, $40
Naverson says this is great for winter because it cranks up the moisture your skin needs but without the grease. It has a great cucumber scent that is fresh and not overpowering.
  • Gentle Face Scrub:
Lather Pink Clay and Rose At-Home Facial System, $40
Naverson says this is great for everyone, especially those with sensitive skin.
  • Blush:
Naverson suggests using cream blush for evening wear because they are dewy and give the skin a natural radiance.

    Tarte Cheek Stain, $26
This brand has won "best blush" awards since it was introduced a few years ago. Naverson says she loves the newest color, "Blushing Bride," which was made for the founder's friend for her wedding day. The color goes on very sheer. It's perfect if you don't want to be too made up.

  • Powder:

    Clinique Powder, $21
This powder is perfect for Valentine's Day. It has a sheer pink that is flattering to every person. Naverson says Glamour tested Clinique Powder on women of all colors and it was flattering for everyone. She says to apply it with a large blush brush and it will give you great allover glow.

  • Chanel Glow, $50
Speaking of glow -- shimmer is still here. The key is to limit where you apply it. The Satin de Chanel shimmer/glow powder can be dabbed right on top of your makeup to get a little glow or Naverson suggests dabbing some on your brow, chin and the top of your cheekbones. She says this is perfect if you think you're having dinner with candlelight because your skin will catch the light in beautiful ways.
  • Body Glow spray, $10
If you don't have the money to tan in Jamaica or Hollywood, Naverson says to check out Sally Hansen Airbrush legs. She says this makeup is great if you're planning to wear something that highlights your legs on Valentine's Day.
  • Eye Lash Curler
Naverson suggests curling your eyelashes for sexy Valentine eyes. It takes just 10 seconds.

Seki Edge I-Lash Folding Curler, $10
This curler is soft, gentle, and safe. Plus, Naverson says, it won't yank out your lashes. The trick: crimp as close to the base of your lashes as possible. This will make your lashes look long.

  • Mascara

Maybelline's Sky High Curve Mascara, $7
Naverson says this mascara lengthens and curls, which makes your eyes look larger and sexy.

  • Romantic Scent

    Cacharel Amor Amor, $30
Naverson says this scent is not overpowering, just fresh and lively. She also describes it as flirty, but sweet. Cacharel Amor Amor has a grapefruit, jasmine mix that Naverson thinks makes this the Valentine's Day fragrance you should wear.
