"Trace" Actress Can Now Relate

"Without A Trace" actress and new mother Poppy Montgomery can now relate to her character, Samantha Spade.

With seven seasons on CBS' "Without A Trace" under her belt and eight months after giving birth to her baby boy, Jackson, Montgomery is still glowing from her successes.

"I'm in love; I'm in love with my baby boy! It's been amazing. He is 8 months old already and it's gone so quickly," Montgomery gushed to Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez.

Montgomery's real life-boyfriend and Jackson's father, actor Adam Kaufman, is considered the "baby-daddy" in the show, too, she explained.

"Samantha Spade has a one-night stand and she gets pregnant and it's Adam. He came in and played the baby-daddy, which is great. I'm not sure if he is coming back or not. They had a little falling out at the end of last season and he disappeared but we're waiting to see," she explained.

Currently Montgomery's character is undergoing a huge life change, being on her own and a new mom all the while juggling a career.

"It's really cool. Now that Samantha is a new mother, she is tougher and I keep beating people up and shooting people and chasing them down streets. It's great. It's a lot of fun. I've been working with these tiny little babies. Reminds me of when Jackson was so small. On the set, you get to meet my baby. And it's cool," Montgomery said.

According to Montgomery, she took advantage of being pregnant on the show and in real life.

"That gave me free license to eat everything in sight because I didn't have to look not pregnant," she admitted.

The now slender Montgomery said she gained a whopping 67 pounds.

"I went all the way, like Ben & Jerry's for breakfast and I had the best time! It was like an eating frenzy. Jackson came out healthy, but he was like seven pounds. I thought he was going to weigh at least 15 pounds, she chuckled.

With the help of a food delivery service called "Sunfare," Montgomery started to shed her baby weight.

Rodriguez suggested Montgomery cheat a little bit from her diet and surprised her with her favorite food while she was pregnant -- vanilla frosting.

Instead of scooping up a taste with her finger, Montgomery went for the spoon saying that she could polish off the entire bowl.
