Time To Call A Plumber

This column was written by CBS News Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith.

It's like faucet dripping in the middle of the night. Drip. Drip. Drip. After awhile it's enough to make you crazy.

Ear muffs can work. But, even as you drift off to sleep, there's that sound that repeats and repeats in your ear. (Sorry Cole Porter.) And yes, it does get under your skin. Is it unsettling? Am I losing sleep because of it? Yes.

This drip I can't shake is continuous revelations about the truth of the intelligence situation in the run up to the war in Iraq.

Google 60 Minutes when you get a chance today and read the transcript from Ed Bradley's piece on Tyler Drumheller.

Drumheller retired from the CIA last year. Before that he was the head of covert operations in Europe. A real spy who says the Bush Administration turned its back on the fact that the Iraqis had no WMDs.

Drip. Drip. I think it's time we called a plumber.

Harry's daily commentary can be heard on manyCBS Radio News affiliates across the country.
