In it, Gunn addresses "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning youth" and says that when he was a teen, he was "in quite a bit of despair" and took more than 100 pills.

Speaking directly to the camera, the 57-year-old Gunn says he is "very happy today that attempt was unsuccessful." He promised to those experiencing similar hardship: "It gets better. It really does."

The video is one of many made by various celebrities recently, including Anne Hathaway, Jenny McCarthy, Chris Colfer, Daniel Radcliffe and Cyndi Lauper.

Gunn's message had some 70,000 views as of Wednesday evening.
